Keeping Children Safe

Peartree Way Nursery School work hard to keep your children safe and secure. We go to great lengths to keep your children safe, inline with statutory guidance from the Hertfordshire Safeguarding Children Board.

All staff have a duty to safeguard the children in their care and will recognise, record, respond and refer if they are concerned about the safety of a child or have child protection concerns. All staff and volunteers are DBS checked to ensure they are safe to work with your children and staff receive safeguarding training each year, as well as ongoing guidance at staff meetings. Our site is safe and secure and staff are in attendance at all entry/exit points when children are being dropped off and collected. These entry/exit points are kept locked at all other times. All our staff are regularly trained in safeguarding and child protection procedures and our assigned Safeguarding Governor, Kelly Nichol, oversees and supports any safeguarding/children protection concerns.

Prevent Duty

All schools and colleges are subject to a duty under section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 (the CTSA 2015), in the exercise of their functions, to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. This duty is known as the Prevent duty.
